About music to grow

Classes are designed to raise confidence and encourage individuality, as well as to promote understanding and knowledge of the body. Musical elements and skills are introduced in fun achievable games and songs. The props and instruments used are high quality and diverse. Multi-cultural elements and global awareness are an important part of Music to Grow's ethos.

Many of the songs and games are based upon the Hungarian Kodaly method of learning music. The principles of Kodaly include the importance of singing as a way to develop inner hearing. This ability allows an individual to hear a sound in their head before they reproduce it. Other important elements are the use of rhythm names and musical reading and writing. Both these abilities help to create a child that understands musical concepts, which can lead towards learning a musical instrument more easily.

Music to Grow's philosophy is:

That every child is musical

That exercise and healthy living are fun

That starting early can achieve life-long results

Music to Grow is a new concept in children's musical education. Music, exercise, nutrition and healthy living information are brought together in high quality, varied classes. The information from the class continues at home with a sheet of facts, colouring and/or puzzles. Each age group has a set of yearly objectives that are incorporated into the lesson plans. Classes are energetic, fun, educational, supportive and inclusive. They include Baby Signing or signs from the Makaton sign language for deaf and disabled people, as well as foreign languages where appropriate.
